Flute Solos by Isang Yun

Kristin Linklater has dedicated many decades of her life to the poet and playwright William Shakespeare. With a collection of sonnets, she tells us about the joys and sorrows of love. Youth, betrayal, wisdom – in the middle of this concert of emotions, Martin Gonschorek’s flute raises its voice: the exiled Korean composer Isang Yun (1917-1995) examines the drama of life with a view from the East. His music combines East Asian tradition with western modernism. In this atmosphere, turmoil and serenity, language and music naturally stand side by side, and both sides contemplate life.
